WizTree is a very high speed disk space analyzer utility for Windows. To get started you firstly need to be able view pagefile.sys. All the entries that show in the window are orphaned files and manually check the boxes for what you want to delete. Open the file explorer and navigate to the C: Drive. It scans your hard drive and shows you which files and folders are using the most disk space.Īlthough it has no option to automatically select all files for deletion, you can use the Shift key to multi-select, i.e click the first file, hold Shift and click the last file, then click one of the selected tick boxes. Your entire hard drive's file system is displayed visually, making it very easy to locate large files and folders. WARNING: Take care not to remove any files that are required for the correct operation of your PC! Use the information WizTree provides to quickly locate and remove "space hogs" from your hard drive. When scanning NTFS formatted hard drives (most modern hard drives use this format), WizTree reads the hard drive's Master File Table (MFT) directly from the disk. The MFT is a special hidden file used by the NTFS file system to keep track of all files and folders on a hard drive. Scanning for files this way completely bypasses the operating system (Windows) and provides a huge performance boost. This is the freemium storage space analyzer that comes in both free and premium software. WizTree can also scan non NTFS hard drives, network drives, USB drives and individual directories. Yes, indeed the free one has some feature limitations but with enough to start finding out folder sizes and disk space on Windows 10 or later OS versions. TreeSize Free can be used from Windows XP.
